Hi friends,

Meditation Open Mic Night has been an absolute blast, all because of this amazing community and our belief in “the larger nervous system of humanity caring for its member parts in ever-more deliberate ways.”

Thank you again to everyone who sent in a practice, everyone who didn’t feel ready yet to send one in but now knows that it’s possible in the future, and to anyone who meditated with these practices. It turns out long-distance co-regulation works, and I feel more connected than ever through the fun we’ve had. It’s also been a great break for Jeff, to enjoy more of the summer with his family.

Like any good party, it must come to an end (cue Semisonic) – but not before we share a couple more of your meditations. We’d love to hear in the comments how these past three posts have landed, and how else Home Base can support you in helping others in your community, workplace, or other circles.

Brooke Thomas is a longtime community member who leads the Do Nothing Project on occasion as well as her own Thursday night community on Zoom. She starts us off with a longer practice about accompanying the moment. Find Brooke at brookemeditates.com.

Suzy Trimmer takes us on a meditative journey through space inspired by the movie Project Hail Mary, helping us to feel a few moments of weightlessness while we encourage our fellow crew members to settle and join us.

Although it’s closing time for this series, so many excellent ones have come in that we plan to share more in the coming months. You can also still make one, just DM me to submit, and we’ll keep updating the Community Dropbox. Speaking of which, a bunch of new ones to check out:

Home Base Community Meditation Practices

Jeff will be back next week. You can also catch him this Thursday, for our next monthly Zoom Home Base Hangout. Always a good time, with both a guided practice by Jeff, and an animated discussion with friends and community. Registration link at the bottom of this note.

Thank you friends, for your practice.

Joe

The next Home Base Hangout with Jeff and community will be Thursday, August 27 at 12:15pm ET, over Zoom. Come if you’ve never been! It’s good to see everyone’s faces. More than a few new friendships have emerged here over the years. First half is a guided meditation from Jeff; the second half is an opportunity to share about your practice – its latest challenges, insights, and opportunities. Expect low-key conviviality, the occasional epiphany, and the normalization of … not much happening.

Click link at bottom. If you miss it, all sessions are archived under “Community Practice.” If you want to attend but a paid subscription is out of reach, no problem. Email info@jeffwaren.org for access, forever. Hope to see you there!

A few quick notes—

  • The next Do Nothing Project (DNP) live meditation is Sunday, August 23 at 8pm EDT. Link here. Replays are archived Monday mornings on Home Base and YouTube.

  • New to Home Base? We have over 80 free guided meditations in our audio library, over 65 extended meditations, over 365 meditations on YouTube, and a growing number of community practice videos. New writing, new audio meditations, and new live community gatherings happen every week.

  • Home Base is best experienced on a web browser (laptop or mobile), NOT the Substack app. To manage Substack emails and notifications, read this.

  • Did you find me on Calm or Happier? While the meditations I made for the apps live on in perpetuity, I’m no longer paid to record new meditations for them. My latest work happens here; becoming a paid subscriber is the best way to support that work. If you found this meditation and post helpful, but becoming a paid subscriber isn’t an option, you can also …

Many thanks!
