Sigh. As a lifelong ADHD-er, my mind is often elsewhere. So I loved this practice—as I do all your practices. I feel more connected, less alone or “broken”: my mind goes, “ohhhhh, other people have a bunch of squirrels in their brains too? Other people solve math problems in the middle of a meditation? Oh. Great!” So thank you! And thanks for the gentle prompts to keep coming back:)
This was awesome and just what I needed this morning. I love when your prompts give me a little chuckle—a reminder not to take the practice so seriously. Thanks for your many gifts!
Heh... " the mind quite curious little creature " ... I wish. Mine it's morphing between a multitude of teeming disarray of squirrels that all request, concomitantly, priority zero attention or a multi-tentacular dense amorphous structure that zaps various attention centres. Simultaneously.
But, and here's the rub, not synchronously.
And that's when, within the glimpses of those fleeting "open" moments, I get to wedge, more like the demented Woody woodpecker, the "homebase".
That's not breath, as a functional asthmatic, but a an umbilical simmering movement.
So, in his radical empiricism witty remark, William James, was definitely onto something. I just am present minded "anywhere " else mostly. Somewhere else is the next anchoring step for me.
Thank you Jeff ! Listening to your meditations, make me feel so understood! Ah someone who gets me. Love the line about the hilarious mind . I so appreciate your insights and the entertaining way you deliver your meditations .
Sometimes I just participate I can't focus I'm in too much of a hurry even when I really have no other place to be but somehow Jeff speaks my language and I achieve the sometimes unachievable I'm so glad I found you in 2017 and I'm never letting you go that's so stalker sounding lucky I live in Pottsville Australia 🦘🦘 thankyou Leanne 🩷
Well, feel I mentioned some unknown neurological issues followed Chemo, Friday had me rushed to emergency A&E , I sit here now Monday 6am writing this ( Hospitals start early) still in the Acute Medical Unit awaiting a trip to Neurology this morning and an MRI.
This meditation again feels so appropriate to me, calming and grounding at just the right time. The last few days has been difficult but Jeff your meditations have meant the World and felt so familiar in the very unfamiliar and grounding amidst the noise and chaos of an Emergency Ward. Your Wonderings with Dan on the 10% App have been like watching two friends of mine chill and have been a huge comfort.
As a Mindfulness and Meditation Coach myself at 64 ..is wise enough to know we are all starting our journey with so much to learn.
Shinzen’s pain relief also wonderful.
Thanks so much Jeff and team … I can’t really verbalise what a wonderful calming and supportive help you’ve been in this at present rather strange and unknown World. 🙏🏼💚❤️💪🏼
Thanks April as I mentioned to Laura, such a wonderful community, it really makes life’s challenges so much more bearable and at times quite beautiful! 💚🙏🏼
Thank you Geoff, for sharing the challenges you face so beautifully. I can only imagine. I send love and light to comfort you as you bravely walk this path. 🤗💕
Thanks so much Laura …so kind, this Community really is very special and yes the walk is complex but when transversed with like minded souls beauty can still be found in each and every step ! 🙏🏼💚
Geoff, nice to be connected ! Cool you’re a mindfulness coach. I love the way the practice brings people together, even - maybe especially - in chaotic emergency wards. Wishing you all the best with your MRI friend
Thanks so much Jeff .. just got home and yes agree ! Equanimity is the buzz word .. find that. Somewhere deep inside and all becomes well ! Thanks my friend ! 💚🙏🏼
This was interesting and since I had been authentically me in a previous post, here goes. The moment during the meditation, when you prompted something about where my mind might be, the image of elves just popped into my mind, and stayed. Unfortunately, it was not the beautiful, no, gorgeous elves from “Lord of the Rings “. No Liv Tyler, Orlando Bloom. I got the Keebler cookie elves, from those cartoon commercials, baking cookies in a tree. Now I am craving cookies!
Seriously, no, can’t even do serious.
The mind is truly a mystery. At least mine is.
I’m questioning things. Were the elves always there? Was there some subliminal message that brought these cookie making beings into my head to have a baking party? Once they were there, why I couldn’t stop giggling? What’s that about? Lastly where was Gandalf to bring me back to the pretty, well behaved elves?
This meditation was awesome for waking me up to the sometimes tangled places my mind does wander, and how challenging it can be to get present again. Thank you, Jeff.
Reminds me of a quote. “All that is gold does not glitter, not all who wander are lost, the old that is strong does not whither, deep roots are not reached by the frost.”-J.R.R Tolkien.
Laura, thanks for sharing the colourful elvish congregation imagery.
I am just vaguely familiar with Tolkien's lore, but the tree dwelling cookie elves,oh yeah, I would definitely hug their tree if they decided to pay me a visit !
This was just what I needed on this Monday afternoon trying to focus on work while my mind wanders all over the place. Glad I'm not alone. Thank you for bringing me a bit more into the present. Gonna stop fighting this monkey mind.
I am so grateful for who you be in my spirit life. Every time I tap in, I come out the other side, more grounded, more clear and more connected to myself.
You remind me to take myself lightly -and the world lightly
I agree. I walk with a couple of rare genetic conditions, yet each day there seems to be something I find beauty in. All i need to do is open my heart and see.
This is a wonderful community here. I’m new to social media. This particular platform is the only one I am on. Everyone here is just great. I am grateful for all. 💖
Well, I found myself craving cookies after this! As a kid the Keebler cookies weren’t bad, fudge stripe was my favorite, but now I like a good old fashioned homemade cookie, just out of the oven. Mmm…
Is the “Great White North” you’re referring to the McKenzie Brothers? I am familiar with some of their work, and find it hilarious! 🤣

Hello to Pottsville, Australia!
thank you :) 🌞☕️
Agree with Daniella, just what I needed this morning!!
🥰 Harry Potter
Interesting synchronicity: I did your "pattern noticing school" meditation this morning, so clearly the universe is trying to get my attention... :)

Big heart bow!
Thanks Jeff
You have a friendly approach towards the mind.
Frees me to just go back to my home base instead of going into why I can’t meditate
Thank you again for your meditations

Sorry I meant to send the last one to Geoff. You can tell I am a newbie.
