How to Be a Less Agonized Fan During the World Series

A 10-minute equanimity practice recorded on Substack Live

I’m from Toronto, so I’ve got some feelings about this World Series. Joy, desolation, anxiety. Hope hope hope. Go Jays!

My buddy David is a huge Jays fan and asked me to make a meditation to help take the sting out of the agonizing, and make a bit more space for compassion: for the other team, the other fans, honestly for any slugger who ends up facing down Shohei Ohtani. It’s also a helpful miniature equanimity practice for anyone who needs it right now.

That’s what I tried to do here, a short meditation – 13 minutes – that begins at 2:00. Afterwards there’s a lively community chat, talking about everything from teachers to trauma to ethics to meditation retreats, and even the nature of some of the profound insights that can happen via practice.

Tell me how you like this format in the comments – both having a regular Substack Live, and having the video (with meditation) archived as a second weekly post. My hope is to post one of these every couple week, along with my Friday guided practice, and Sunday’s Do Nothing Project.
