Jeff- an after-the-DNP thought about the tedium (or not) of showing up, when we don’t sense that we are changing.

We shouldn’t underestimate the power of building a habit in the service of what might be a fuzzy expectation. Anyone who works in a creative field knows that showing up and doing the work day after day is what makes the occasional discovery and bursts of splendor possible. Many days are spent just looking or listening, or staring into space, and it seems that nothing much is accomplished. Until the day when you look up and think —oh, look at that, it’s been there all along but now I can see it!!!

Grateful to be here with you and my fellow travelers in the DNP.

That is such a good point Tamar. If you don’t show up every day, those occasional discoveries never have a chance of showing up at all. you’re really making clear one of the many parallels between a spiritual / life practice and a creative practice. There’s so much in that.
