I lost any attachment to what it looked like - which is rare with other bodies in the room- it brought me “ inside “ the movement and by prompting “ go at the speed of awareness- it allowed me even more freedom - with that anchor
Almost as if I was communing - co creating with the energy -
Suffice it to say -
We are both light and present with our Sunday morning
🙏👏❤️
And added bonus Jim, our parakeet was jamming brilliantly with the bird in the video!!
I was in my sixties when I had testing for dysautonomia (dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system). Turns out that a lot of us are thrown into sympathetic nervous system overdrive when we sit still and breathe deeply! (I suspect, though I haven’t seen literature on it, that those of us who are neurospicy have an even worse time.) So there we are, trying to relax, and our nervous system is getting a huge jolt of adrenaline.
Moving meditations, such as Tai Chi and Chi Gong, seem to bypass this problem. I love my Tai Chi practice for this reason.
Yeah, I’ve met a lot of people who feel anxiety focussing on the breath. Actually, that teacher I mentioned, Therese Jornlin, she talks a lot about that in our interview with her in the mind bod pod. If you’re curious about the subject, it could be worth checking out.
Yes to your Mountain Sun t-shirt! I’m in Boulder. Appreciated this meditation. You are amazing. I listen to you every day on Calm and sometimes on Happier.
I really loved the loose guidance of this and the way it allowed me to get lost in my own rhythm without trying to somehow do it "right." I am so grateful for your realness and all you do, Jeff! I've been listening to you for so many years now on Calm, if I ever went to one of your retreats, I would feel like you were my dearest friend and wonder why you didn't recognize me!! THANK YOU, Jeff.
I live alone, so this is an easy thing for me to do…. when I wake up in the morning, first thing, I kick the covers off the bed and lay all relaxed on the bed. Then I begin to move my arms, my legs, my feet all over just slowly moving and it’s like I pour all energy into my body, but it’s not an excited energy. It is a full centered energy of peacefulness. I do this for about 12 minutes every morning during which time I keep check on myself do not think about my day or worry about my day or what I have to do for the day! It’s awesome. A great way to start the day and let your mind be at rest, as you go forward.
I loved this so much - thank you! The ‘sounds of summer’ naturally occurring in the background of your video made it all the more peaceful and delightful.☀️
What a beautiful way to give love to our bodies. Thank you for this, Jeff. A great reminder to us all and a way to give thanks to our body and movement collectively. 🙏🏽🫶🏽
Great way to start the day! Felt good to slowly move my body in any way I wanted/needed. I had forgotten how good movement meditation feels. Thanks, Jeff!!
Improv movement after a life of watching an instructor to see if form is correct; It's wonderful! like the best jazz, a perfect comedic line, or a blended beverage with all the right flavor, I'm drawn to this. I know what my shoulder needs so I'm putting it in the mix. Jeff, thanks for your ideas.
I loved this instruction. I have so far been too self conscious to do qigong solo with people around. Thank you for naming feelings I can relate to and normalizing them.
My husband and I just finished this -
Feedback:
It was such a easy Gentle entry in to practice
We could each find our own pace and rhythm 🎵

Ha!
That’s hilarious about the parakeet. Love your description of this practice, it goes down for me in a very similar way. Thanks for sharing friend!

I love those practices as well for someone also in their 60s.

Psychedelic squid dance is sticking with me for sure! 😀
Jeff, that was lovely. Love the feeling of the movement and awareness. Thanks again for it all.
I love this! Thank you Jeff!
Thanks so much for this, Jeff! You speak my nervous system’s language. I always love your take on and translations of practices!
