Hey Friends -
Happy new year. Good times! Bad times! Fleeting times. I like mystic-poet William Blake’s suggestion, from his tiny perfect poem, “Eternity”:
He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity‘s sunrise.
Today, we kiss the passing year, and kiss the new year forming all around. We extend our mobile chimpanzee lips upwards and sip from the airstream of life. Tiny sips, tiny appreciations, with the un-grasping equipoise of eternity.
This sentiment is already … gone. Find it again in the guided practice.
Love,
Jeff

Being Human Takes Practice
July 2-6, 2025
Hollyhock Cortes Island, BC
Finally, my first West Coast offering, on the coast of British Columbia. I visited the remote Hollyhock retreat centre for the first time on my Honeymoon - it’s tucked into a gorgeous wilderness on Cortes Island. Getting there – plane, ferry, shuttle – is part of the adventure.
The other adventure, of course, is internal. For these four days we’ll journey through the core skills of meditation, and explore what they have to teach us about being human. Expect a mix of seated and moving meditation, nature practice, group sharing and discussion. Also: the food is next level.
