32 of the fastest minutes of my life. WOW. Jeff, I enjoyed this so much. There is simply so much relief, comfort, and freedom to be found in remembering that what is here, while not necessarily "just", is 100% completely right to be here, simply by virtue of the fact that it's here. Not good. Not bad. Just simply right. And while this insight has been taught to me by you many times over the last nearly two years of developing my fledgling practice, it still lands hard every SINGLE time it's spelled out to me. And in fact, just typing this, there is emotion coming up...I believe as a result of my true understanding of the power within this simple idea.
I enjoyed considering every sound, thought and distraction as "perfectly placed" or as having "perfect timing". This idea of every distraction being the perfect thing in that moment is sort of the fast-track to understanding equanimity.
I was sitting in my bedroom for this meditation. I live downtown in the Financial District in NYC and when you listen out the windows you can hear the hum and whir and blowing and sounds of all the rooftop HVAC fans. It creates this sort of distant airflow sound. Not quite like the roar of a jet engine. And not quite like the sound of leaves rustling in the wind. But somewhere in between. And then....ambulance....helicopter....laughter in the distance.....car horn.....the sounds of a fight on the street.....a bit of construction noise.....one thing after another. And I almost found myself welcoming them. It was taking on the nature of a symphony of sorts.
As you said Jeff, "there couldn't be any other way."
The opportunity to end with gratitude for all of these things was moving, uplifting, and slightly preposterous. And I loved it all. Every sound, every sensation, every thought.....these can all be intentional beneficiaries of our awareness and gratitude for their existence and for their simple happeningness.
Love to you all. So full of gratitude that we have this to share together. Love you Jeff and thank you.
Gorgeous, love that “preposterous”!really enjoy reading your reports Richard, your appreciation of practice is so fresh and sparkly. Happy to be connected friend.
I loved this meditation.❤️Everything In its right Place has been a mantra I’ve tried to remember my whole life. It’s not always easy to accept but it is the greatest life lesson. It keeps us looking for the magical moments and deepens our connection to Spirit.😇❤️
Normally we do Danielle; Joe found this one in the Canva library, and it doesn't list a creator. we will keep looking because it’s absolutely gorgeous and I think I needs to be covering an entire wall of my house!!
After the CEC session, I made a note in my calendar to come back and look for the recording, because I felt like I would need to revisit this one. And then here it is in my inbox - thank you! 🙏 (cue Radiohead)
I'm so glad to know you're giving yourself a break. Such good modeling for all of us. Thank you friend!
Love this- perfect just as it is! Also, love the artwork that accompanies the session - seems you always find the “perfect picture” ! Many thanks❣️
Always bringing the wisdom in. Because I forget. Thank you.
